    Default Just getting started

My name is Jamie 29 years old and very interested in the straight blade world. However I have no idea what I am doing! I am buying a straight razor this weekend, a H.Boker Nacoochee with tempered steel. What all do I need to get started? Any ideas for information for gettign started and where to take it to get it honed?

    thanks!

Check the Wiki Straight Razor Place Wiki there is a section for new guys in there. basically all you gotta have is razor, strop, brush, and soap. Enjoy it, it is way better than a cartridge shave.

    Jamie,

Congratulations on your H. Boker purchase!

Along with consulting the wiki, as previously noted, and getting a relatively inexpensive strop for learning proper stropping technique, etc. to complete your str8 razor ensemble, I would recommend that you purchase a copy of Lynn Abrams' "World of Straight Razor Shaving" dvd. It will help ease you into the world of str8 razor shaving immensely.

There are also a number of forums at SRP on razors, stropping, shave brushes, pre and post shave, aftershaves and shave balms that you will also find quite helpful.

Take care and welcome to the world of str8 razor shaving.
