Thanked: 0"new" razors
Got these from an antique shop. Was debating whether to try to restore them myself, or have them restored by a pro. I'm pretty good with metal, and they're not in that bad a shape, especially the edges. I would also be willing to sell them or trade for 1 beginner razor, they come in their on case too.

What do you guys think about them?

Well, from everything I've read, they're good razors. Sheffield steel has a very good rep.
I don't really know what your metalworking history is like - only you do. So read up on the restoring boards, and see if your experience matches the skills needed for a razor restore.
Either way, I reckon they're worth fixing up, it they can be.

if you're good with metal fix them, then have them honed and enjoy.

Just restored one of these. Super hard steel & nice shaver.

Thanked: 0Good
I hope mine will end up close to that, althought I don't know about some new scales, about how much would a restoration like that cost?

They don't look so bad. Not a mission impossible to restore them. Basically all you need is wet/dry sandpaper of various grits and maybe some rubbing paste (Autosol etc) to finish the job.
If you have electric tools like Dremel etc you can speed up your work a lot, but you can't do it as well with your hands.
You will find tons of info from the Wiki.'That is what i do. I drink and i know things'

IMO,if you have a SR your currently using I would go for the restore, its really not expensive for the materials, if you hit some snags along the way hit the wiki, post etc.. if your honing skills are good finish them off if not send them out and then Enjoy them. You have a great oppurtuinity to gain some experience with these razors. Good luck and keep us posted if you go that route.
