Thanked: 0My first strop. good or bad...
ok, so I have a strop i got a long time ago. Dont really know if its any good. I just sent my razor to a fellow SRP user and when I get it back I just want to make sure that my strop isnt complete crap. Its one of the 2 part strops. One is a black vinyl and its floppy. The leather side is really thick. It doesnt bend almost at all. It even has a part by the top that dip just before the end of the stroke. Is that leather to thick or is that ok? does it have to bend so when i pull it, it will be nice and straight?

Thanked: 151Sounds like a Zeepk strop or one of those cheap ebay strops. If thats what it is then it is indeed crap. There are strops listed here in the classifieds and by other vendors here on SRP. Look there. All you need is a good quality leather or hide and you have a strop. Many here like to have the lenin or cloth portion, but I do not use mine much. Keep and eye out and get you a new strop. You will much happier!

sounds like barber and bauty to me
the winyl got black felt like backing right?
if the leather dont smothen out when youyou pull i suggest getting rid of it (the vinyl part is not too bad tho if it dosnt cup to much)
oh and keep the hardware and handles if you consider making a cheapo strop in the future
