All three are good razors, at great prices. I would just do whatever one you think is the coolest. This is a fun sport, not a decision tree.

I've never had any personal experience with the gold dollars but a lot of guys have good things to say about Ruprazor. I like Dovo razors and with SRD IIRC you get a second honing free. I've got a vintage Herder and it is a good shaver. Bruno is a knowledgeable restorer so it is a tough decision. Almost a coin flipper. A buddy of mine showed me to make a list of pros and cons on tough decisions. Sometimes that helps to see the forest better.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Thanked: 0Haha. I didn't think about how much it will probably get beat up. But it sounds like I can't go wrong with either of the 3. I appreciate the speedy feedback. Thankyou all!

Joe,
I agree with the previous posts...All of your choices are good and frugal.
Personally, I would opt for either the Dovo Best Quality or the Ruprazor in a razor strop combo. Doing so will cost more than the razor alone, but the cost will be less than if you purchase the razor and the strop separately.
Additionally, both will be professionally honed--a necessity for having a smooth shave."Age is an issue of mind over matter. If you don't mind, it doesn't matter." Mark Twain

Some of the toughest decisions in life are decided by a coin toss.
And seriously, if it were me, in this case--Id flip a coin.
Really, I'm lying. Because if it were ME, I'd get the one from the classifieds. Or, I would look there and get a Vintage resto.
But, yes, I do decide many other thins, like whom to marry, with the toss of a coin.

Thanked: 0RupRazor.com sends a honing certificate with your razor. If in 3 months of purchase you need to get the razor honed, send it back and pay for shipping.
As a recent receiver of a RR Gold Dollar and Filly strop, I was pretty stoked to see this.
As for edge holding, the instructions received with the razor and strop say to give the razor a couple of laps on the CrOx side of the strop every few shaves, I don't think it needs to be done that often (but what do I know, I'm just getting started out with this whole straight razor shaving business). As far as I can tell, the only time I feel any tugging or pulling is when my technique breaks down (angle or pressure).

I feel RAD will kick in soon and it will not be a question of which ones to choose, but more like which ones not to choose.

i'd get the herder, it'll most likely shave much better than the others and doesn't look bad either.
