Thanked: 0new guy
hey all, just wanted to introduce myself and say WOW, i had no idea that a whim i had to learn the art of shaving with a straight would land me into a shaving enthusiast forum. who knew that there were this many of us! i have to say, some of your builds are true works of art.
ive been shaving with disposables ever since i COULD shave, but theres something about old technology that drew me in.
i havent yet purchased a straight, but am currently looking for the best low budget bang-for-buck.
nice site all...ive really been drawn in these past few days.

Hey Finley,
If you haven't done so yet, check the Beginner's Guide in the wiki for info geared towards newbies. The classifieds are also a great place to look if you're in the market for a razor or other shaving gear.
If you're impressed by some of the restored razors, wait until you see how many other custom projects and homemade shaving goods are being made by SRP members. All my razors, my go-to brush and my favorite shave creams have either been hand-made, honed or restored by an SRP member.
Welcome to SRP and good luck getting started!

Hello Finley and welcome to SRP.
As for your first str8 razor purchase...Before doing so read the SRP wiki, ask lots of questions of the members and peruse the "Classifieds" as well as the links to the different vendors who advertise on SRP to get some idea of the variety of str8 razors that are out there before taking the plunge. But by all means, take the plunge.
Take care...
BTW...One of the str8 razor merchants who advertise here--Straight Razor Designs--is located in your home state.Last edited by jhenry; 01-17-2010 at 02:36 AM.

Thanked: 12Welcome to the world of close and comfortable shaving. The people here are very helpful and always wiling to help out new people. The only problem I have is that I have more stuff on my to try list then I can afford. I will reinforce the classifieds as a good place to get a razor, also straight razor designs has good prices and good costumer service. I havn't tried the other places that carry razors but I've heard good things about most of them here.

Welcome to SRP Finley.
It's a great place with lots of resources. I remember how overwhelmed I was when I first found SRP... overload!
Enjoy the journey!
