You can lightly oil the blade of the razor if it is carbon steel and you don't want it to darken. Use mineral oil as other oils may actually promote oxidation (darkening).

+1 on drying that sink and counter. If you don't do it for your wife or girlfriend, do it for yourself because you are performing a gentlemanly act and you should respect your tools and shaving enviroment.

I personally have a little piece of felt in a small plastic jar that is soaked in Choji oil (which is a fine mineral oil with some clove oil that the Japanese use to wipe down their swords) which I wipe my razor down with after each shave. I know I don't need to if its properly dried, but I am insane about taking care of my tools. I am not saying you or anybody else needs to do this. It is just part of my cleanup ritual.
