Many times you find ones that look very similar on E-bay

The Antique Straight Razor/ Folding Knife Early - eBay (item 120518619765 end time Jan-22-10 18:00:23 PST)

They are "Fake Antiques" without having it hand it would be very very hard to tell and even then it might be tuff to tell...

Kris, I just don't know, I don't think anyone could tell without holding the razor or honing the edge...
There are just to many fakes out there, in fact I have never seen anything but the fakes...

I do know that when they say 1700's that isn't quite right, as I have actually restored razors from the 1700's, and they look much like 1800's razors.. You can see the lineage in the designs the steel still takes and edge and you can shave them... These razors like what you have are a complete departure form the norm so I just don't know...

I wonder if there are some contemporary artworks showing this kind of razor in use - I don't think I've come across any just from browsing the web

HarleyFXST found this with a quick search. I guess it isn't really specific to the OP, but seems to still be on-topic. Dated 1888:
