    Talking The Newbie Chronicles

So I have taken the advice of the expert SRS's here:

    1. "Stop using the using multiple olive oil preps in the shower" - I now have Olivella soap, and I use it on my face prior to the hot wash cloth. I have found a marked improvement with this action. Too much oil for my face.

    2. "Strop with linnen and leather" - I started using both linnen and leather and two things have happened. The first is that my stropping technique has improved and smoothed out. It was easier to get a sense for the proper pressure on the linnen than with leather. The second is my razor seems to be much sharper. I know this is a point of contention, but it is working for me.

    3. "Just because you can, doesn't mean you should" - My agility between right and left hand shaving is going very well. I have not had a weeper or nick in over two weeks. I can cross over between WTG, XTG and mostly AGT at will and am very comfortable with it. But that does not mean I should. I cannot regulate the pressure well enough in all of these methods. My neck still stings like heck with the Alum Block. So for now, no more AGT at the neck. My face is just not ready for it and pressure is still a problem.

    4. My chin and upper lip are becoming the easiest places to shave second to my cheeks. And, I am actually getting better shaves in those areas. Go figure.

    5. I am becoming obsessed with the actual shave. I find myself driving to work and running my hand over my face. Remembering what strokes I used, how I executed them and then how close a shave I got in those areas. Then, I make mental notes,a plan for the next shave and what corrective action I'm going to take. Is there an SRS 12 step program? I'm going to need it soon!

I continue to say thanks to you all and how blessed for us there is such a place as SRP.

    Cheers!

    Congrats!

It sounds like you're storming ahead there, and learning loads! Its funny how addictive all of this gets isnt it?

And the faceturbation is a by product of a good shave! I sit here all day feeling for stubble and thinking about how I can improve the next time.

Have you got any AD's yet? If not, just give it some time..! Hehe! I got RAD. And I got it bad as well... Fortunately SWMBO is fairly tolerant..!

There is no 12-step program - you just sink deeper and form a few AD's.

Personally my upper lip is a doozy for me. I got it BBS once and can't remember how...

Yep - SAD has firmly set in. I can't see a str8 without wondering how it shaves, if I need it, if I can scrape up the money for it and why don't I have it. How th heck did this happen?
