I travel a lot, and when I travel I tend to be away from home for several weeks at a time.
During these travels I bring two razors, a shaving soap, a twosided strap, an alublock, a travel brush and a travel shaving boul and a soft microfiber towel.

I also bring this: Small bottle of medical grade alcohol.

Now I make sure that my two travel razors are sharp prior to travel, and I make sure they are sterile. And during my travels I have the posibility of keeping my razors sterile and well straped.

At home I make sure the strap, razors and everything is in top condition as soon as I unpack them. That way I know I'll be ready for my next trip.

My recomendation is to keep the farmers motto: Keep the equipment ready, and safe at all times.

(Yes I cut myself from time to time, I'm still new to straight razors. Yes I pack everything nice and safe when I tarvel and yes I store things safely when at home too.)

I guess what I'm trying to say is, think ahead when you might be going away for a while, you'd be surprized at how much you have room for in a little travel case. Don't worry to much about room in your suitcase cause it takes up none at all. And don't bring the razors in your carry on.

Guess I just wanted to come with a travelers advice
