Thanked: 9First 2 shaves
Well I got through the first 2 shave pretty well. Just one tiny cut on right side of face that didn't even bleed. Now I have only done 1/2 of right side of face down to jaw line so far. Not the greatest shave yet, but passible, then finished off with my Cobra Classic injector razor. One thing I noticed is I do not put enough water in my lather for straight, something else to work on.

Well done! The learning curve is all part of it, so just keep at it and you will get there.
Make sure that you keep your pressure light as this will reduce the chance of a slice. Your lather should have a nice fluffy consistency, and provide good glide. Its one of the key areas of a good shave, so make sure you take the time to get it right.! You could even experiment making lather between shaves, just to make sure you get the water levels right.
Check the Wiki for good tutorials on lather making:
Straight Razor Place Wiki
Just take it slow, keep the pressure light, get your stropping and lather making sorted and you'll be wielding your razor like a master swordsman in no time!
Good luck!

Great start. It's not a race. Take your time. In no time at all you will be shaving much more efficiently and effectively, and achieving that BBS! Congrats, and welcome to the right way to shave....

Thanked: 9Well got through a third shave without incident. Did basically the entire right side of face until I got close to my mouth, just about got my lip and decided it was time to put the razor down ad try to get closer to lip tomorrow.

Firsrt 2 Shaves
Hello, CMontgomery:
Welcome to SRP. You're going about this the right way. What's more, the advice you've received so far for SRP members is sound.
Well done, sir. Stay with it.
Regards,
Obie

Thanked: 190Well done. Keep at it and soon enough, you will not need the other tool.
It took me about 15 shaves to become confident. At about 30 shaves, I realized I had come so far, the M3 was no longer needed. I still keep it around as it comes in handy for one little thing or another.
I had the Straight Razor doing the lions share of shaving the whole time while I was learning and I used only about 1 M3 cartridge over 30 shaves to assist in the shaving.
Welcome to Straight Shaving and SRP!
