New Dovo
Well, I just got my Dovo Best in the mail from Straight Razor Designs and gave it a whirl this morning. It has been 7 shaves with a Feather disposable type straight edge and the difference is incredible. I love the Dovo! I think it is a much better shaver than the Feather and has a "real" feel to it! Aside from two little nicks it was a smoooootthhh shaver! Thanks Lynn and Don! Patrick

I got the same razor and I started with a disposable straight. The difference is amazing. Lynne and Don do a wonderful job.

You just said a mouthful. A simple Dovo from Lynn and Don is a GREAT razor. Pound for Pound my Dovo Ivory Micarta Stainless Steel is prob my best razor. (out of my Half a Dozen or so Razors). Yeah ,Thanks Lynn.

I just went for it and started with a plain Dovo from SRD. Good choice. I love mine.

I've owned a basic Dovo forever, and I've only recently gotten it to shave-readiness (learned it all the hard way over a long, long time)... What brought me back to using straights was a cheap disposable razor straight, and I only now realize how good that old Dovo is.
Count yourself lucky to be starting with a properly honed razor in a forum of experienced teachers

Congrats on the purchase and success. I am a firm believer in buying the best equipment you can afford in any hobby I take up.
First, you won't be fighting the euqipment as you learn.
Second, you won't be replacing it two months later.
Third, if you don't decide to stick with the hobby, you can always sell the equipment and get most of your money back.

I agree
You can tell when someone has a real passion for what they do and Lynn certainly has that passion. I purchased his DVD and have found it very useful and would recommend it to anyone who is starting out with a straight razor.

Stay with it and take your time.

Thanked: 2I was fortunate in that my best friend bought me a new Dovo Ebony as a gift. That saved me lots of $$ for which I am truly thankful. I love the blade!
