    Default Blade care

    Hello all:

I have been shaving with a straight razor since Christmas and I love it. I have a DOVO Bismarck. I rinse ite, wipe it down, and stop it after each shave. However, there are spots (appear to be water spots) on the blade that will not wipe off.

    Any suggestions?

    Thank you,

    Scott

Are you wiping the inside of your scales to remove any moisture before putting it up? Also some oil for you blade (I use mineral oil, but many use/recommend camellia oil) will come in handy for preventing that as well...

Something that helps prevent water spots-- when you are done shaving, run the blade under really hot water until the blade heats up. Then immediatly wipe it down-- the heated blade helps the residual water evaporate quickly.

+1 to all the advice given.

I rinse and then thoroughly dry the blade after each use, then give it a stropping before storage.

Make sure there no water in between the scales as this can cause spots, and if you get spots use some MAAS and a Q-Tip to clean it off. Just avoid the goldwash if you can as the MAAS will remove it.

    Good luck!

I wipe my blades down with alcohol when done. This takes off any soap residue and romoves any spotting issues.
