    Default Present help

    Hello,

I was wondering if anyone could help me.

My father has recently really got into his straight razors ad shaving. His 60th birthday coming up and he has been dropping loads of hints about wanting another razor or some sort of shaving accsessories.

From the not very subtle hinting, I think that he is after a Japenese razor. He has also ,mentioned damascus blades?

I've had a look an the internet, but I don't really know what i'm looking for and appently it is really easy to spend loads of money on something that isn't very good.

So, I don't really know how this forum works, but I would be really grateful if someone could give me some ideas of what to look for and where to start looking.

    Thank you so much.

    Love Susie

    Stu!

That is a tour de force of a response. This is one of the reasons why this forum is such a great resource.

    Very nicely done!

    Hello DevotedDaughter,

I recommend you go with the Japanese razor. They have very simple, classic designs that are easy to decide on and any of the dealers recommended earlier will guarantee you a quality piece.

The other razors will be tricky to pick without involving your dad because there are a million options and everyone has a diferent opinion on what's best.

Either way, I definitely hope to one day have a daughter like you

I would contact StraightRazorDesigns and ask for a gift certificate. You could get him a really nice brush and some shaving creams too.

Personally, if I had a daughter I would be a little embarrased accepting a Japanese or "Damascus" straight razor. It might be more practical to just buy him a nice sports car or something less expensive.

    Thank you so all much.

This has been great for sending me in the right direction and you have all been really sweet.

Mistress and Stubear, you have been amazing! I will follow up on those links and I
think I should be good to get the credit card out today!

I also had a play on the mama bear site, so much lovely stuff to choose from!

I'm sure the birthday boy will let you all know what he got very soon!

    xxxxxx
