Thread: just got a razor

i got my dovo razor today and tryed the right of my face it was fantasic i am so glade i giving stright razor a shot

Glad you like your Dovo. I've got a couple myself and have to say that are simply the best bang for your buck in a new razor.

I'm so glad to hear your first try was such a great sucsess! That's how I started out..one section at a time. It seems I read so many posts where the ones who try thier whole face on the first try, don't have as good an experience.

I've read before, where the moustache was supposed to be challenging. I found it to be just as easy as my cheeks. I have learned to use my tongue by sticking it between my upper teeth and upper lip and push out on the moustache area to stretch the skin and push out whatever area of my moustache I'm shaving. That's one option and the other is to use your free hand to push up on the tip of your nose to get it out of the way or you can do both. The corners of my mouth and chin are the two areas I found to be most challenging.

Once you get to your chin, you will find you most probably need to use much shorter strokes because of the abrupt change of blade angle in reference to the curvature of your chin. Just remember to use light pressure and don't force the blade. If it hangs up, stop and change blade angle. I would say there is no one way to do the chin area because every face and beard are different and learning to shave it with a straight comes mostly from experience. Ya think this could be where the term "Learning curve" comes from!? LOL!

Well, you are off to a great start and I think you will find you really like shaving with a str8. So much, that you will find yourself actually wanting to shave. Just remember that mistakes are learning experiences and only problems if we give up.

Dovos, properly sharpened, are great beginner razors. Well worth the money.
