Thanked: 0Help for a beginner.
Hey, I'm 16 years old and am starting to get intersted in shaving with a straight razor. I'm trying to find a decent straight razor at a decent price, but without a job that isn't easy. If you guys could point me in the right direction to where I could find a straight razor or what brands to look for I'd really appreciate it.
I also need other shaving things and really don't know where to look. No place around here sells things for straight razor shaving and I need to find a place on the internet where I can order things fairly cheap without spending too much money.
I need everything for a starter so if you guys could help me out by telling me where I could find some things at a good price I would really appreciate it!

Thanked: 1903Welcome to SRP, Shane,
Do take a moment and read the beginners guide (link in my signature) including the FAQ. It contains a shopping list for beginners with a link to buying the necessary kit on a budget. In a nutshell, don't buy from auction sites, buy from well known sellers in the Classifieds, or build yourself. USD 50 can get you started, USD 100 definitely will.
Good luck,
Robin

it may help if we knew where you were based. if your in the uk, wilkinson sword, and kent do some nice soap/cream gift packs, with a brush for about a tenner, as for the razor, I`ve just ordered mine from Introduction to razors i found the same razors cheaper but his are truly shave ready.

So here's a pretty cheap setup in my opinion: razor and filly strop combo from kenrup(ruprazor.com) 45 to55 bucks if I remember right plus the vhd set at walmart(6 bucks) which includes a brush, puck of soap and a bowl. Hope this helped !!

Help . . .
Hello, Shane:
Welcome to SRP. As everyone suggests, mark your start here at SRP, first with all the research material, and then look around for vendors mentioned, or in the Classifieds.
I, too, recommend to stay off the auction sites. Later, much later, when you know your way around the straight razor world well, then poke around the auction sites. Good luck.
Regards,
Obie
