    Default Accepting Reality

So, today I just accepted that I am not going to drop into a antique shop here and find the perfect razor all cleaned up for a fantastic deal. Hey one can dream right, and I will not stop looking every time I am in a shop for one.

Now the reality, I want a razor which is affordable and in shave ready condition. I would prefer a vintage razor as I love the idea that something old gets a new life. I also decided I want to only buy from a reputable seller, and preferably someone from SRP, as I want to support fellow passionate razor nuts not just someone who wants to make a buck.

And now the bad, I have been trying to keep an eye on the classifieds here and I have 2 problems. First, I seem to always miss the affordable shave ready “newbie” type razors. Second, knowing exactly which razor that comes up would be good for me to start out with.

If you have something you want to part with to help a fellow who has caught the razor bug or have any other words of wisdom, please let me know.

    Thank you all,
    Jeremy

Bob Keys is a forum member and I hear that his razor honing and restoring is as good as it gets though I've never gotten one from him. Here is his website. Affordable and good vintage stuff.

I would check out Holli4pirating's page too. You can find it here.

Definately! I just picked up a old J.A. Henckels from Holli4pirating. Man was she sharp! Great price, great shave!

Oh and as for direction on what to look for, start in the middle. 6/8 half-hollow. Stick with German (Solingen), American, or English manufacturers

I'll give a big + 1 to holli4's page. I got a Bismarck 'Barbers Special' from him that wipes the whiskers off like a squeegee cleaning glass.

The classifieds are also a good place to look. You will find great razors at attractive prices.
