Accepting Reality
So, today I just accepted that I am not going to drop into a antique shop here and find the perfect razor all cleaned up for a fantastic deal. Hey one can dream right, and I will not stop looking every time I am in a shop for one.
Now the reality, I want a razor which is affordable and in shave ready condition. I would prefer a vintage razor as I love the idea that something old gets a new life. I also decided I want to only buy from a reputable seller, and preferably someone from SRP, as I want to support fellow passionate razor nuts not just someone who wants to make a buck.
And now the bad, I have been trying to keep an eye on the classifieds here and I have 2 problems. First, I seem to always miss the affordable shave ready “newbie” type razors. Second, knowing exactly which razor that comes up would be good for me to start out with.
If you have something you want to part with to help a fellow who has caught the razor bug or have any other words of wisdom, please let me know.
Thank you all,
Jeremy

Bob Keys is a forum member and I hear that his razor honing and restoring is as good as it gets though I've never gotten one from him. Here is his website. Affordable and good vintage stuff.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

I'll give a big + 1 to holli4's page. I got a Bismarck 'Barbers Special' from him that wipes the whiskers off like a squeegee cleaning glass.

Thanks to all for the responces...I will continue to check the classifieds and personal websites.
My current situation changed last night and I am going to have to put the new razor on hold for a bit...unless there is something that I cannot live with out or cannot pass on the deal type of thing. So if you have anything please PM me and I will let you know about my situation and if I could swing what you have offered.
As always I will take any advice you all have.
Thanks,
Jeremy

Thanked: 1195It can be tough sometimes when cruising the classifieds. Unless you're one of those types that are glued to acomputer 24/7 those deals get snatched up pretty quick. Be patient, "your" razor will appear to you one day. I waited almost a year for a DD Wonderedge to reappear after I lost out on a beauty. The one I ended up with is even more rare - and more beautiful to boot! Miracles do happen.
