Thanked: 12One week in and my hair isn't growing fast enough.
Hey everyone.
I have been reading the forums now for 3 months, got my DOVO Bismark of santa and have been shaving with it since last week.
I'm so enraptured by this new obsession I'm a bit angry that my stubble doesn't come through quicker.
Its an every two day affair at the moment which is more than the twice a week with my vibrating gillette sharpened sex toy I used to use.
Has anyone else found that straight razor shaving gives them a thicker or faster growing beard? I'm 26 now but I think its still getting better.
Haha oh well

I certainly know what you mean by the "obsession"! I am into almost three weeks and shave everyday!

I don't know if straight razor shaving or any other kind really has anything to do with it, but your beard does keep maturing and getting heavier through your twenties--at least mine did, and even beyond, I think.
And just wait--when you reach, ahem, a certain age, you'll be able to use that straight to shave your ears. Then you'll look back on those days when you wished your beard grew in quicker ...

Thanked: 0I have to agree with Rich. You will continue to develop your facial hair as you get a little older.
Personally, I like to go with the standard schedule from the old straight razor days; Saturday night and Wednesday morning. Only politicians, bankers and lawyers shaved more often than that, but even most of them wore beards!

Thanked: 39I don't thiink that your beard is necessarily any thicker but it might feel that way because of the way that a straight razor cuts the hair versus your "old" razor. A straight razor shave shave just feels different when it grows out.

Thanked: 259i am almost 51 and i now shave mostly every other day. i guess my skills have gotten better and need not to shave everyday. i still enjoy the experience and kinda wish i could shave everyday. when i first started i shave everyday mostly from inexperience and missing little spots here and there and would want to shave the next day. also i have found out lately if i try to shave everyday that i get some(not much) skin irritation.
