    Smile How's my technique?

I've been working on my technique for a couple months now. The first video is my WTG and XTG work. The seconds video is ATG, and was very hard to do. My hair grows at odd angles on my neck and under my jaw below my ears, and its a royal pain in the butt to shave.
So any feedback on my technique would be great. I'm mainly looking for feedback on the second video please.

I didn't watch the whole thing but it looks good to me. When I shave my neck I secure the skin.

You secure the skin? That sounds so military.

One thing you may find more comfortable (and maybe not) is to use your opposite hand for XTG & ATG passes (left hand for right side of face and right hand for left side of face).

I am going to guess that you may not be getting your neck BBS from what I am seeing in the Video 2. Including a downward scything motion on your 3rd pass may help.

Also, after the WTG pass, have you tried some more aggressive XTG passes coming down your jawline from your ear, then using ATG movements to finish off the rest?

Lots of ways to skin the cat in straight shaving.

Great thought on the video and asking for imput.

    Looking good. Very nice technique.

For under the jaw and that area, if you grab the middle of the cheek and stretch the skin up, it will help to get that area.

I am wondering from watching the video which way the grain of your beard grows. My beard grain grows in the direction from the chin to the ear. So when I do my across the grain stroke which is the opposite of yours (I go from the ear to the chin instead of from the chin to the ear), I am actually shaving against the grain. So instead of 3 passes, I get a great shave with 2 passes. One down and one across and them a couple clean up areas.

In any case, if you are comfortable with what you are doing, it looks great and I would continue with the same regiment.

    Have fun,

    Lynn

    Default Thanks for that!

Awesome videos Christian... As a newbie filled with anticipation, it was really cool to get to see your whole shave.
