    Default Hone lapping?

Got myself a Norton 8k, and after a few smokes and a few smokes with a buddy of mine we found ourselves honing my old hickory butcher's knife on the 8k, and now that I look at it... I dinged it. They're bad enough I can feel'em on the razor's edge and my finger when I pass over it. What does the process of lapping entail? Should I send away for this to be done and be without my beloved hone for the month?

I'm down right impressed with how organized this whole community is. Here I thought it was just a forum. Thanks!

I use wet sand paper laid flat on the counter. I use a 360(?) grit for the 8K side and a 160 for the 4K side. You also need to round the edges and corners. The same sand paper did that job for me as well.
