Thanked: 190Simple Solution
I went from a Mach 3 to straight shaving with disposable straight razors. I wanted to learn how to straight shave without the big investment. My cash outlay for the razor blade(s), shaving soap, and badger brush was roughly $80.
If you go with just the disposable blades and use other shaving soaps, then the cost goes down to less than $40. I would encourage a shaving soap for straight shaving and a decent badger brush.
This is another option to consider.

Thanked: 0Heh, welll.. After quite a bit of looking and reading I decided to just go for it. I could sit here for days on end looking at stuff, thinking, reading... Ultimately I think I need to just buy what I need and try it out. Decided to go with what seems like a decent set of general stuff, came out to close to $400, not too bad. Now the wait for it to get delivered... haha

Consider
heck I went from mach 3 to str8 with no problem, and i spent a considerable $$$$ in the process...the only thing is that you don't know if you'll like it and big investments might get you in trouble (i knew i would like the transition). I started off with a dovo "bridge", dovo 13" strop, edwin jagger best badger brush and ceramic soap bowl, and an oversized Texas A&M coffee mug with a flour container (lid removed) all togther less than 300$. Shortly thereafter i bought a prima klang from str razor place...nice...but i'm impulsive. to each his own!
cool beans man hope you enjoy the life of str8 razors as i have come to!
