round 2, first full straight razor shave
Apparently all the research (forums, youtube, reviews) I've done has paid off. Round 1 was on tuesday with 2-3 days of growth, making today 3 day growth.
Prep: hot shower, hot facecloth in shower
lather: nivea extra moisture shaving cream and wilkinson's soap
brush: wilkinson synthetic
bowl: fluted glass bowl from the dollar store (2/ $1)
razor: Parker SRW with Shark blade (on 2nd shave with the blade).
balm: nivea replenishing aftershave balm
Yep, did 99% of it with the parker, just did under my nose with the schick quattro rather than play with that angle just yet and against my ear. With the grain and against the grain, using both hands rather than reach across, lots of stretching.
Lathered up twice and still had enough sitting there that I could have done a 3rd. Got it started on the soap, added water and moved to the bowl, then a small shot of the cream and a little more water as I built it up.
Next step is hot lather
The 2 passes was enough to get BBS except for a couple tougher spots. Took damn near 45min but it was worth it. Couple minor weepers that finished with the cold water rinse, no nicks at all this time.
Now why didn't I move to a straight razor years ago? I've got 3 razors heading off in monday's mail for cleanup/repair and honing, and picking up a pair of Dovo's this fall when another forum has a big gathering (there's a member about 30km from the dovo factory that's going to hand pick for me).
Hitting a couple local shops to see what they have for supplies tomorrow, but I have a feeling I'll probably break even on expenditure in about a year when I consider what I put into cartridges.

Congrats. It just keeps getting better.
