    Default First few DE Shaves

Hey everyone just wanted to post here after having my first few shaves using a DE. I have been using an Edwin Jagger 89 with the included Derby Blades and so far I love it. I have a Tweezermans Badger Brush and I'm using some Taylors of Old Bond St Sandelwood Cream.

This combo has so far been amazing, all shaves I have done so far have been great, so smooth and effortless. There is no skin irritation at all and the entire experience has just been great. Literally as I made my first ever pass I said out loud "The modern disposable razor is a butchers knife compared to this" while smiling ear to ear like a little kid on Christmas.

Thanks for all the advice here that has helped me discover this amazing way to shave! I can't wait to shave again because of how enjoyable the experience really is. Thanks again everyone!

Welcome aboard. I'm primarily a straight user however when I'm in a hurry I fall back to the DE. I have an EJ Barleycorn and its a great instrument and gives a great shave. The Derby's can be so-so. Try some Iridiums. They work great in those razors.

I will give those a try when I get the chance, I got a razor blade sampler pack so after the derby I think I might give the Astra a try and go from there.

Welcome to the Forum! I still really enjoy using both DE and SE razors that I have, and like giving the straights a break every so often. There is something to be said for getting a nice shave from an old 1912 or an Aristocrat, even if it is just to keep your skills up to par. You think it is nice now? Just give it some time.

How do Iridiums perform in say the Merkur HD? Where do you pick yours up?
