Here are my razors.

1/ Is the clover brand from Morley & Sons
2/ Dovo with the green blade holster.( nothing special it's just easy to carry on a trip.)

Going from a shavette to a real straight is definitely half the battle, but not more. I thought it would be mre when I made the switch myself. I'd say within 2-3 weeks you should be getting most of the way there and within 2 months already at the refiniing stage. Depends how fast yo learn and how much you are willing to tear up your face a bit. If you go real gingerly and try to save your face it will take logner - no way around that. Also make sure you have a properly sharp blade - which means send it to Lynn at Straight Razor Designs - so you *know* you have a sharp blade and that's not part of the problem, and then also so you know what a sharp blade feels like when you're stropping. It is definitively easier to shave with the straight razor, although the shavette is easier to handle while I'm on a trip. Also I am scared to take the Clover Brand with me, they might lose the luggage etc.
The straight razor belonged to my granddad who used it until he passed away in 1972. He had several other straight razors ( all US brands).

Interesting observation, that after shaving with the clover I don't have skin irritation while after using the shavette I have serious bumps on my neck area.
Yeah poor old Clover needs some rejuvenation ! How much they charge for an " overhaul" ? ( Cleaning the edges, etc.)
