Thread: Razor burn?

Right away after a shave my neck is red but it goes away in 10min. even without using a balm.
Is that a razor burn?
Anyone else having that?

I have quite sensitive skin on my neck and it always seems to go a bit red immediately after the shave. It doesnt hurt at all, and it fades after a minute or two, so I dont worry about it!

I used to get razor burn when I used a Mach 3, and that used to hang around all day and was very painful. Any balms, AS or even water that touched it used to make my face burn even more and go even redder.

What I get now is totally different to the Mach 3 effect, so I dont think its razor burn, I reckon its just my skin reacting to the exfoliating effect of the blade. As I say, it fades really quickly and doesnt hurt at all, so I've not been worrying about it.

Usually razor burn lasts longer than 10 minutes. Usually it's an all day type of thing. Probably what you are experiencing is some minor irritation from the blade but not quite true burn,minimal burn? I don't know.

That is slight irratation. In the early days of straight shaving, I would be a little red from not using the right shaving soap and the redness color would go aways in about 30 minutes.

It is a learning experience, but well worth it.

When did you start shaving with straights? Sometimes it takes a few days (or weeks) to have your skin adjust to the blade. My face was red when I first started to use my razors, but it didn't hurt throughout the day.

Also, technique will improve over time, that's just what happens. I am certain as this improved your red face will also lessen.

Is your razor sharp enough? I had a razor that gave me irritation on every shave. After I honed it, every shave was irritation free.
