Thanked: 6Love the scales, hate the blade.
I think I may have asked this before but:
Can I get a blade replaced? My first razor was a Dovo Ebony. My second was a G-Stahl in ivory from someone here at the forums. The Stahl shaves like a dream, the Dovo gave me constant problems.
As a newb, I figured it was me. Bad stropping etc. One side never seemed as sharp as the other, it made a different sound on the strop. Well, I brought it to a hone-master, and he said there was a curve in the blade (along the horizontal axis, not a smile).
So I took a piece of 1 inch balsa and made a combo paste/leather dingus, which resulted in a reasonable shave. The thing is, I only want 2 razors. One ivory, one ebony.
I'm getting sick of having to deal with this one's shape. I've had it since August, so I dont think it would be right to call the vendor and ask for a replacement. Basically, I'd be fine with paying $50 to have a new, straight, dovo blade put in the existing scales. Or a vintage blade would be fine if its a good shaver.
Is this a service available from someone around here or would I need to send it to Germany? Or should I suck it up, stick this thing on a shelf and buy a new razor?
Thanks,
-Mike
