Thanked: 9First GOOD shave
My straight razor shaves have been quite ok so far, but tonight I realized, what a really good shave can be. Today I received this French Nose Ram's Horn razor and it was even more beautiful than in pictures. I did the HHT with it and it popped hairs more easily than I have ever seen. It also felt extremely sharp and smooth against my thumb pad. Shave ready right out of box! I did not find it necessary to do nothing for it, so I went to shave right away.
The shave was really close and I only had to do one pass with the grain. Blade was quite light and gave me instant feedback. Now my face is as smooth as baby butt, there is not a single cut in it, and skin is not irritated at all. That razor cost quite lot of money but at this point I feel it was worth every penny.

Thanked: 1903Congratulations. Just for the record, the HHT, but especially the TPT, are tests to establish the status of the edge during honing.

Thanked: 9That's right. The razor seemed allright in every way, so i went to shave without doing anything for it. And it passed the most important test as well

+1 to all the advice given. The only real test is the shave test. If you use the TPT on a shave ready razor you could damage the razor or your thumb..!
I like your new sig line ursus..!

Thanked: 9Oh, I thought that the razor was sold with factory edge but now I don't wonder at all why it was so sharp. Very good customer service indeed.
As Stubear said, thumb pad test can damage shave ready edge and I was aware of that. In fact, I didn't do the actual TPT, I just extremely lightly and gently slided my thumb along the edge in order to feel if there is any roughness or saw edge in it. I don't find that too dangerous for the edge but please correct me if I'm wrong. Sorry if I sometimes choose my words little incorrectly.
