    Default First Shave

My scuttle from Dirty Bird Pottery arrived today so I decided to go for a full face shave for the first time. Two days of stubble but it's still like Brillo. Didn't cut myself though. Hair on my face grows like the crown on my head so passes will be complicated. My neck and under my chin is going to be a problem but I'll get it sooner or later. Am thinking I may have dulled my blade with my newbie stropping effort.

Stroping takes time. Just keep practicing and give it time.

It might take a while, but you will get it. We all had to learn what areas require special attention and techniques to shave well.

    Morty,

You're doing fine...Don't over-focus on getting a BBS shave initially. Concentrate on perfecting your stropping and shaving technique and things will gradually get better.

Unless you gouge your strop and/or "roll" or damage the cutting ege of your blade, your shaves should get better over time.

I have found that my best shaves came after I stropped my razor a number of times--50 fabric; 50 leather. My oldest razor--the one I have stropped the most and used at least 10x since last December--delivers some of the best str8 razor shaves I have experienced so far.

    Take care--and smooth shaving.
