Thanked: 9Hello!!
Good evening everyone!
My name is Paul, I live in adamstown Maryland and I have discovered the Joy and artform that is straight razor shaving some 2 months ago.
I want to take a minute and thank everyone who's posts I have read that have given me insight and really good tips and tricks. I also want to Thank, I think his name is Dave for the video he posted using his DblDuck razor. That video was extremely helpful.
My collection of Razors consist simple of 3. 1 is a George wolstenholm straight razor, well around the 100 year old mark, and gives a decent enough shave. My second is a Hollister Cutlery Co. Straight razor that I purchased a few weeks ago and I have shaved with it a few times, good results, I still need to hone it a bit.
My latest Razor I purchased is a Wapi, brand new and still in it's wax paper container. It has a small nick in the dead center of the edge about 1/1000th of an inch. I honed it slightly and stropped it and shaved with it for the first time this morning and am really really amazed with how close it shaves. The nick however did cut me very slightly in a few areas, and I will either try to hone it out myself starting with a 4000G and work my way up to a 6000g and finishing with a 8000G stone.
Anyhow, I am pretty long winded and I guess I am trying to say just how much I appreciate having a forum such as this on something that I am veryt interested in and I want to thank everyone yet again for freely sharing their knowledge, without it, I would still be scraping layers of skin off from my neck. lol.
Does anyone happen to know of a Honemeister in or arounhd Maryland that I may send my Wapi off to incase I can' fix it myself and possibly touch up my George Wolstenholm?
Meantime, Take care everyone!
Paul

Welcome, Paul, and thank you for your post! I agree with you in that this forum is a great community of shaving enthusiasts, ready to give advice and help out the Noobs without hesitation. SRP was and still is also y main source of information for all matters pertaining to the art and enjoyment of wet shaving.

Welcome to SRP and don't worry about bringing a topic up that has already been talked about. If you have a question just throw it out there and if someone can answer it they will or link you to where you can find it. Smooth shaving.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.
