Default lather - you're doing it wrong

well, I had nothing to do today so I cruised around the wiki for a while and looked at the section on lather Category:Lather - Straight Razor Place Wiki

and realized I hadn't been shaving with lather but rather just soapy foam on my face... I figured some other n00bs, like myself, might be having issues too so I thought I'd post it so someone that hadn't even given it a thought, like myself, might see it and help them out.

Since looking over it and checking out some videos, I have made lather twice this afternoon just practicing and am ready to shave with it. I am sure that my experience will be better than it has been with the foamy bubbles.

Glad to be of assistance, my good man.

Now I just have to try out that MTBAB menthol cream!

Good point. Even disposable cartridge users should know how to make a proper shaving lather.

TBH I had more trouble with this at the beginning than I did angles. I know that my technique improved over time, but I noticed the biggest leaps when I got a good lather going. I wanted to blame the razor for the longest time (don't blame the carpenter, blame the tool right?), but the lubrication and cushion that come from good lather just made a world of difference. I ended up watching mantic59 lather videos and learning.

I learned a good lesson from the ordeal though. Some of the worlds greatest art was made with substandard tools, they just truly maximized their potential.

Agreed, Ive noticed my lather improving over time and the more it improves the more my shave does.... Course I have a bottle of veg, glyceryn i keep handy anyway, so that helps make the uber lather. I dont use it anymore though, as ive gotten uber lather without now!
