Yeah, Library Guy is officially awesome.
I gotta tell you...
I lapped an ultra-fine Spyderco by practicing with eBetray razors, unintentionally made a hone-worthy hone out of it. Hours of practice lapping (because it was not good enough for a polishing/finishing stone and the highest grit removes the least amount of metal on razors not intended for shaving).
My Norton Mexican 4k side (of a combo stone) has micro holes that collect disastrously upright swarf that chips the edges of my pristine razors-in-progress. Gotta turn to a Spyderco as an intermediate (switching honing systems).
Modest little Tweezerman badger is fantastic, huge qualitative difference from a good boar brush. Little 70 cent puck of J.B. Williams puck makes a heck of a great glide, if not cushion, for some straight razor shaves. Last a long time to boot.
The sharper the razor, the safer the shave. A visually acceptable shave is easy, and fast. Not much need for refreshing the edge with that kind of minimal edge wear. So why da heck do I have so many open razors?
Loved your post, Library Guy. You are flarkin' awesome!
