I'm right handed. When I first began str8 razor shaving last December, using my left hand to shave the left side of my face felt very awkward for me.

Now, five months into str8 razor shaving and I don't feel any awkwardness at all.

    Practice makes perfect.

Ha ha! Well - the flam paradiddle is not the easiest rudiment - slightly awkward - I recommend slowing it down and focusing on a fluid motion with your wrists...

Thanks for the great answers - I'm looking into a Moss Scuttle...

Seems to be a popular question right now... http://straightrazorpalace.com/shavi...2529-hand.html

I'm a newbie and have been straight razor shaving for about a month. I am also right-handed and find it very difficult to do anything with my left (sports, writing, etc). My first couple shaves I tried to keep the razor in my right hand and go over the left side of my face but it came out horribly wrong. Cuts, nicks, inconsistencies in pressure...

I figured that it would be easier to switch to the left hand for the left side of the face and use the same technique, rather than having to learn a new technique and keeping the razor in the right hand. This seems to be working OK.

However, I tend to only use the left hand for the left sideburns, cheek, and neck. The left side of the lip and chin I still do with my right.

I have a Georgetown scuttle and am quite happy with how it keeps the lather warm, though mine is an earlier generation than the one they sell now.

I'd give my right arm to be ambidextrous...

Seriously when I started someone suggested try cleaning your teeth with the wrong hand! It works apart from a few dented gums. These days there's not much difference. Mind you, I also practised with my Feather AC with the blade removed of course.
