That's already honed by Lynn, the founder of this site. It will be good to go straight out of the packet (no stropping before first shave, so you get a uncompromised first shave).
Start also reading up on the beginners guide if you haven't already. http://straightrazorpalace.com/srpwi...eginners_Guide
Good luck.Last edited by ursus; 04-28-2010 at 06:13 PM.

Thanked: 0Awesome! I dug a little further into their website and found that it does indeed say that, plus apparently a cert for a re-hone...good deal!
Is he/are they a site sponsor here? Always like to support the sponsors...

Welcome to SRP. Yes SRD is a sponsor of this website and Lynn Abrams is the founder of SRP as well as its predecessor, the yahoo group, many years ago.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Welcome. +1 on the SRD kit, and on the wiki. And of course, any questions along the way, feel free to post them here.

Welcome to SRP.
+1 on the previous advice; and remember, you don't need to strop your razor the first time you use it.
You've made a wise decision by deciding to purchase a complete set. I would recommend that you choose a 3" wide strop, rather than a standard 2" strop. It will lower the learning curve a bit with respect to stropping technique. Second, I would also add a copy of Lynn's dvd "World of Straight razor Sahving" to your package. It will answer a lot of your questions about str8 razor shaving and provide a necessary crutch those first few times when you shave with your new Dovo.
Again, welcome to SRP. Take care--and smooth shaving."Age is an issue of mind over matter. If you don't mind, it doesn't matter." Mark Twain
