Default First Post....almost ready for first shave...

Hello, I have been reading the forum for a few days now and purchased a setup in anticipation of my first shave. The setup included a Dovo "Best" 6/8" and a 3" strop. I also included a brush and soap.

My main reason for getting interested in straight blade shaving is that I like to maintain a trimmed beard. Not a full grown beard. I always get a perfect shape when I leave the barber and it is impossible to replicate with the standard safety razors on the market.

So, am I right in this line of thinking? Will I be able to get a more precision shave and maintain the shape of my beard better with a straight?

i think in the beginning it's rather hard to maintain.
i have a goaty and in the beginning it has shrinked a lot from shaving with a straight(not having the feeling with it) but after a month or 2-3 i have the feeling i can shave within millimeters
and shaving with a straight is just great en more comfortable than with a cartridge

I guess I will plan on screwing up my neatly trimmed beard for the first few shaves then. I realize I will not get the hang of it overnight, but I really want a way to maintain my beard with precision lines.
