Thanks everyone for the warm welcome. I feel much better about my purchase now. +1 Ursus, thanks for the "do not touch up" advice for the first month. You are right in assuming I would have been tempted to draw iron to stone.

I will post a 1st shave update soon after my package arrives.

Learned long ago when entering a new forum to "Read, Read, Read till your eyes bleed" before one starts posting questions. Usually most questions have been answered many, many times. As a network/computer engineer, I understand the frustration with people who refuse to put out some effort and study a bit. I find the joy is not in just doing something new but in learning something new.

    Default Drool!

That is some serious gear there, wirehog! I went with the 3" latigo strop from SRD, and it's a beauty, I can tell you. I'm sure you'll be happy with your SRD strop...and everything else...too.

I'm a bit jealous about your method for bringing the wife around. My fiancee's supportive...amused and supportive, but I tried the whole "rose lather for your legs" bit, and she just stared at me blankly and said I never use cream, just a bare blade. I think she might be tougher than I am.

    Best,
    Greg

LMAO, that just too funny Greg. Well hopefully she will come around and see were the lather can take you. Have her check out mamabearssoaps, com, they have a huge selection of scented shaving soaps for women. My wife was checking it out today. From the posts about it here, they make great great shaving soaps that are high in glycerin and essential oils. I'll let you know if we get some ourselves to try out.

Please do, I'd like to know your opinion. I just bought a cream from CarrieM, and they sound amazing from the reviews I've read here.

I couldn't find glycerin. Any ideas where can I get it?

You can find it at Walmart by the Hydrogen Pyroxide... comes in a small bottle.

I just found a bottle of glycerin at Michael's (craft store) in the cake decorating aisle of all places.

    Default Glycerin

Excellent, I also heard it can be found at Walgreen too. I'll check today. I like the dispenser seen in jockey's video. I'm going to do some looking around for that too. Going to get a cheap brush, Poraso cream, and William soap to start practicing. Oh, and I need to find a vessel to make the lather in. Preferably something that can work as a scuttle
