I am actually using the grip that Lynn explains in his DVD, so yes, one of the standard grips.
I am just finding it impossible to get the mirror image grip on the left side. It is strange, but I can't figure out where to position the scales. Haha...it is actually starting to frustrate me because I feel like it is such a simple thing to do.

Yeah, I hear you. Try going for the exact mirror opposite. Do a couple strokes with your right hand on your right side of the face and take note of everything.
- Where is the razor? What direction is it facing?
- Where are your fingers? Where is your hand/wrist?
- Where are the scales?
- Where is your other hand? How is it positioned to pull the skin?
- How is your face angled wrt to the mirror?
Go for the mirror opposite on the left.... no silver bullet, only practice.

Thanked: 1903Hold the razor in your right hand. Place the fingertips of your left against those of your right. Transfer razor. Done.

Simple and true.
That's the key. It's different for everyone, but it took me a fair number of months before I was consistently getting better shaves with a straight than with my Mach-3. The straight instantly gave less irritation, but achieving the true BBS shave certainly didn't happen overnight. Once it does, though (and lasts all day), you'll wonder how you ever put up with the cartridge nonsense. Keep at it, practice the angles, use a little less pressure than seems necessary, and the result will come with time.

Okay, that made it simple and seems to have got me in the right position. Thank you so much for simplifying that for me.
I think the process of shaving with my left hand is so awkward to me right now that I could not even figure out how to grip the blade. I hope this doesn't get ugly.
