    Default My first shave..... frustrated..

    Hello everyone!

After I got a DOVO straight as a gift I bought a paddle strop and couldn't wait to shave!

I am using a DE razor for 2 years now without problems, even with Feathers I don't get nicks or cut and always a BBS!

So... with a two days growth, I stropped the razor slowly. It is'nt as easy as it seems on videos!!

I made a good lather with my proraso soap/cream preparation with pre-shave and started shaving....

The razor was pulling and it wasn't a comfortable shave, can be bad angle only?? I got a decent shave when going against, but it wasn't comfortable, not at all.

I remember when starting with the DE, that it wasn't that easy... but I had to focus on technique only, not in the blade.

    Any opinions are welcome!

The key word that stands out is "GIFT"

You need to find out if the razor was made shave ready, They are NOT from the factory it normally costs extra from most vendors, a very select few hone every razor..

First find out where they bought it , then find out if it was made shave ready...

If not, you don't stand a chance of it shaving well..

+1 on Glens post. If it aint shave ready, it aint going to shave well..! You'll need to send it out to a pro to be honed if it came straight from the factory.

This doesn't sound shave ready at all, Glen is right. Also when you get the razor shave ready please strop slowly with it, don't get ****y and try to go fast. The fastest way a razor can get dull and pull is from stropping incorrectly.
