First Time = Great Success
Hello SRPers, today after a week of waiting for him to arrive at my place on vacation. TheDorn and I shaved for the first time with our first straight razors.
I had my new Dovo Best Quality purchased from SRD and he had his Wade and Butcher purchased from the Classifieds. Our first shave went great, we whipped up some Uberlather and went to work on our faces. I got a shave comparable to my Mach 3 in roughly 3 passes with one additional pass on my neck. I made it through with one small nick on my chin and a small cut on my upper lip just barely below the nose (that ones kinda painful). But overall it was an excellent shave. I look forward to years of straight razor shaving to come.

Congrats on your first 'real' shave, Jacob! It sounds like you're off to a great start. With time, your shaves will put that Mach 3 to shame and, if it's not there already, it'll be in the trash soon.
Happy shaving!

you can always keep your mach 3 just as an example to show how it't not need to be done

It was an absolute blast shaving for the first time with a SR. The only problem i had was getting my neck smooth because the grain goes to the left (all of it) and i tried a technique for it, but cut myself so I'm not gonna try it until i get a lot better.
It definitely wasn't as intimidating as i thought it was going to be and once I got the angle down correctly, it was actually easier than my Safety Razor.
All in all i wont be going back to my electric, safety or any other type of razor... that I know for sure!

That is fantastic!
I really like the fact that people are traveling to meet with each other and learn this previously all but dying art.
Congrats, and keep posting.
