Not only is this a great story but the pic provided gives a great example, I really appreciated seeing the whisker and lather smeared towel along the edge of the sink. Wiping the blade will keep your razor safe from the faucet and the hazards it presents while rinsing the blade. Congrats!

Thanked: 18Thank you Obie, coming from one who writes well it is a nice compliment.
Hello Stijn, ja yes it is. good service too.
DE is double edged? No, no experience, started with a shaving machine for my 18th birthday I got from my dad. Then switched to gilette at about 23, on and off, since I always had major trouble with rashes and cuts.
Funny thing is, the reason I actually bought a straight razor is because of my secretary About 3 months ago I asked her to get me some razor blades, wilkonsons, I had been trying them out for a couple of months. Worked better than gillette for me actually. The reason was, I hadn't shaved for a couple of days, didn't have time to do it that particular morning and I was going to have dinner with a client that evening.
So at about 17.00 I started shaving in the office with the razorblades she bought me, but they were the wrong type (my fault, I wasn't specific enough). So after about 20! minutes, I decided to keep a goatie because I was absolutely killing myself with the blade. Blood everywhere...Had alum luckily
Dinner went fine. but up till this first shave with a straight razor, I only shaved myself with my tondeuse (don't know the english word) which I use for trimming the hair on my head, because I was very disappointed with the last shaving experience. So I walked around with stubbles for 3 months, all the while thinking that I was going to go for a straight razor. I think that really helped build up the expectations and the excitement over the shave!Last edited by jojingo; 05-22-2010 at 10:49 PM.

It was a good moment, almost like a rite of passage feeling (I'm 36 now)
I wanted to have photos of how it was. It's nice to hear you liked that photo, since for me, that shot came out perfect to better preserve the memory of the moment
