All I can say is Holy Crap!
On the wounds, on the sticking with it and especially on the$900.

Thanked: 29I started with your same setup. I have added a couple other razors but a year in am still using that strop. I have oiled it, sanded it, soaped it, rubbed it, and all that and it is just not feeling effective. We are buying a house and once we get settled I am gonna go ahead and upgrade the strop and paste the old one.
That AOS razor has the hardest steel known to man I think. In my opinion after using others it was not a very good beginner razor. It took me almost a year to get it wicked sharp due to some uneven grinding but it is there and I did it myself so I am satisfied.
I've had my fair share of nicks but man fileting my nose may have been the end of me.

Yes I know the feeling about the AOS razor I am not sure if I like it or not. I didnt find this website till a week or so after that purchase. My totals now is even higher as I won this 120569569717. I have been wanting a big wade and butcher and now have one. Ha I just realized my total doesnt include the strop from SRD or the Genco Razor from the classfieds here at SRP.

It's highly unlikely to be shave ready. It probably won't need much work, but you never know, particularly as you've bought it blind.
I have my fingers crossed for you. Cell rot isn't a pretty sight!
I advise you don't buy one or two dream blades right now, or you'll take all the fun out of it!
PS, I do like the hollow W&B's. Nice choice. I have a 9/8 here waiting to be Max'ed.Last edited by ben.mid; 05-23-2010 at 04:52 PM.

Quitting...not an option
Quitting is NOT an option here ...it does (as you have already experienced) eventually click...and once it does, Taadddaaaa. Nirvana...now, you can never go back...you will want to reproduce and surpass this "great" shave you already achieved...that's the standard you'll be judging your shaves with from now on.
have fun and glad you stuck with it...$900 is well spent
