I found the Secret to Shaving!!!
Let me tell you how this all started. My grandfather passed away 2 years ago. When I was packing all his stuff I found some old double edge razors. Now when I started shaving I found that I have sensitive skin and have always used an electric razor. So I started to learn DE shaving, a few cuts here and there and trying 10 or 12 razors with different blades I was off. A BBS was easy after about 3 or 4 months. Now on with the rest of then story. I thought how great it would be to try a strait. Wow what a learning curve. After many razors that I bought shave ready???? About 12 or 13 I was about to give up. Then in looking at razors I found the answer. It was not so much the razor its who hones it to be shave ready. I sent 5 straits out to be honed, cleaned and polished, A Dubl Duck, NOS Revisor, Wainwright, Genco and a NOS Scharff Kober & company. Hoping one of them would do the job. In about two days I got a call that they were ready. So I waited if it did not work I was quitting and going back to DE.I had found the answer it was MAX http://www.vintagestraightrazors.com/
The razors are amazing they looked better then new. That nights shave was awesome!!! Yes I am still learning but that was best shave. I now have a great starting point. I know what the secret is Max saved me. He was a great help and a true gentleman.

Thanked: 1195Yep, Max does have quite the reputation here. There are plenty of good honemeisters in addition though. You say all your other razors were shave-ready? Were they bought from reputable sources?

Zion Rules!!
St. George? Man...you live close to one one the most beautiful canyons in the world ...ZION NAT'L PARK. That's one of my and my wife's favorite spots to go chill, hike, do the Narrows, Angel's Landing, Observation pt, etc, etc...
Hmmm ...that reminds me ...gotta talk the wife into going again soon...maybe Sept when the water in the narrows recedes and Temp is bearable.

Max to the Max
Mad Max is the man...I also have a couple of Vintage str8 (15/16" W&B Bow, & 5/8 DD Goldedge) that I purchased online (with his consultation & blessing) and they reside with him. It's hard to wait patiently after seeing that you got yours already . Max and I talked about what to do with scales, and the types of scale designs that would fit the "personality" of each blade...Can't wait, but I still have 3-4 months .
Will keep you posted once I get it.
Cheers,
-Robert
