New Guy II
Heya all! Just wanted to 1st and foremost, say thanks to all the help I've received from the guys here. /bows
I've just finished my 1st compete shave, chin, upper lip, everything ... I realized that my angle was too big and thats why the blade kept pulling instead of cutting. It was most pronounced when I attempted my chin and lip but with the slight adjustment to the angle (more like 20 deg than 30) it mows through it like nothing. Also, with that lesser angle I was able to get a far smoother shave than before as well without the razor burn! All round a great time, and for the 1st time I actually enjoy shaving! That's huge for me haha!!
My lather is coming along but I still can't find any glycerin soap. And I was wondering what kind of oil should I use on my blade, and how often should I apply it. I shave every 2 days probablly. And the longest I would go without shaving is 4-6 days. Thanks for the help again guys!!

Thanked: 172Welcome to SRP; Yes the angle can be determining factor for many noobs.
Some use mineral oil, but it's not a must to oil the blade. Look in the vendor's corner or soaps and creams section of the forum. Good luck.
I'm up your way every couple years for ski vacation. We Have a great time there.
Read in another post about lathering, thought you might be intrested in trying the cold shave bring from Colo.

If you're hunting for a soap locally, try Wal-Mart...they usually carry VanDer Hagen soap for a couple bucks. If you have a mall that sells cigars and knives, they may also have some Col. Conk soaps.
Congrats on the shave!

Great progress. You seem to be doing well & enjoying things!
Personally, I don't oil between shaves. I just dry it, then strop on linen. I guess it depends on the humidity at your location though.

Congrats on your progress. It just keeps getting better. I always strop 20 round trips on leather following the shave and wipe the blade with a silicone gun cloth impregnated with a rust preventative.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.
