I am Miguel
Mickellez for you...
Dear friends,
I am a 24 years old Spanish, living in Estonia with my wife (Belgian).
I am new in the topic of straight shaving, but I got interested some weeks ago and finally, I bought a straight razor in the "classifieds", from our friend "Stubear". I am still waiting it to arrive and I have very good expectations about it, it is a Torrey "the barber" shave ready. When I will get it and have my first shave, I will write down my first impressions, very useful for beginners (like me, I have been looking for).
Really, thank you all for the posts you have done. This has been a high value information to get introduced in the straight shaving.
I hug you all, Miguel.Last edited by Mickellez; 06-03-2010 at 09:34 AM.

Hi Miguel, welcome to the site..!
If you havent already, check the Wiki and other articles linked in my sig line below as they will really help you.
You'll also need a strop of some sort, so check out the Vendors corner and the classifieds for strops that are available.
Stropping is a very important aspect of straight razor shaving, so make sure you're getting good contact with the blade and nice smooth even strokes. If you want to practice, use a butter knife and practice stropping that. Focus on the motion of flipping the razor over on the strop. This should help you avoid any nicks in the strop when you begin!
I hope you like the Torrey when it arrives, its a sweet little shaver..! Just be sure to wipe the oil of it and give it a stropping before use.
If you have any questions, please post them here or PM me if you prefer!
All the best,
StuartLast edited by Stubear; 06-03-2010 at 09:45 AM.

Hi Miguel,
Welcome to SRP! I started using a straight razor in February and had my first full face shave the third week of March. Not yet baby butt smooth, but I am getting a damn fine shave now.
Be certain to read Lynn's article "First Straight Razor Shave" that you will find here.
Namaste,
Morty -_-
