When is the right time to make a switch?
I'm 10 shaves into my new routine shaving with a straight. So far, I've only used one razor, my Dubl Duck Special #1 that I got from Stefan. He did a great job on the restore and it shaves well by my newbie estimation.
Prior to my first shave, I also picked up a shave ready Case & Sons off the classifieds here on the sight. I've been tempted to give it a go, but have resisted so far because I don't want to throw in too many variables as I'm still trying to learn. That said, I'm anxious to try it out.
The Case is a round tip with a barber's notch. The Duck is, as those familiar with them know, a spike point. I don't know whether to expect a tremendous difference in the feeling of using the new razor because I don't know what I don't know. That said, when is the right time to begin working a different razor into the mix?
Any advice would be well received!

Just go for it. You cant really go wrong if you're used to a spike point.

I have 7 shaves in with 3 different razors and one of them I did extensive modifications to after the first shave so it like 2 different razors. So really 4 razors in 7 shaves.

As Scipio suggests, get stuck in. It'll give that Duck a rest, and you're bound to learn something.

Thanked: 18I'd give it a go for the fun of it. I switched to a TI on my 9th shave after using a dovo before that. It gives you a new point of reference, as said before, you're bound to learn something

Thanked: 33you will ,over time, probably gain a collection of razors- so you may as well start straightaway with your new razor and start to rotate.
I have 5 razors that I rotate. Each one has it's own characteristics but thats half the fun!
Use and enjoy-keep us posted.

Like I say to my wife when she doesn't want to drive my car. Do you have a drivers license or did you buy a facsimile at Sears.
A razor is a razor. If you can use one you can use em all unless you bought your razor use permit at Sears. No matter how many men you kill you can't kill your successor-Emperor Nero
