Thanked: 0New guy!!
Howdy all!
Yesterday I had a my first straight shave and it was amazing. I didn't shave myself tho, I went out and got a haircut and a shave and it was great.
I wanted to know what I should get to start shaving on my own.
Also what do you think about using a straight to shave your body?
I use a Mach3 to shave everything but what about a straight? Has anyone tried this before?

I'm not sure about the whole body. It's a sharp blade on some sensitive areas.
As for what you need. A strop brush soap and a razor of any kind will do you good.
There is a guide for beginners around here somehwre you can look into, but I just don't know the link right now.
Either way enjoy your shaves and be safe.

Thanked: 18Welcome!
I think one of the rules says: don't shave nude
you can figure it out yourself
I do advise the US made "bobbit" brand for nude shaving though

Kingshave,
Check the SRP wiki. That will provide you with a ton of information about what you need to begin to explore the world of straight razor shaving.
Also check out the vendors who advertise here at SRP you can surf their websites to find quality low price razor-strop sets. Whichever razor-strop set you finally decide on, though, make sure that it is expertly honed before you purchase it and certainly before you use it.

Welcome aboard, and to the dark side!
I highly recommend getting a copy of Lynn's CD. It is worth every penny and a good investment. It will get you started on the right foot for shaving with a straight razor.
I had to try a shave from a barber who is very good with shaving with a straight razor. And he was. I had to take my own equipment because, by law, he had to use one of those disposable razors. However, I found that I got just as good a shave doing it myself...

Welcome to SRP. Read my sig to avoid nicks and cuts whatever part of the body you're shaving.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.
