Thanked: 66Whatta long shave!
I went in after 3 days of very obvious beard growth with my str8 with my shave scuttle with hot sink water/clean rag/plenty of shave cream/well strop'd 7/8 Sheffield blasé thb got started..after 3 passes (working on getting around my Adams apple cactus hairs I walked out of the bathroom and asked my wife how long I was in the bathroom and she said about AN HOUR!!..man I was hungry! (hypoglycemia)..man my focus was gone afterwards but a little closer and still used my SE to get around my Adams apple cactus hairs and lightly at my chin area..ok..I'm done yapping ;-p. Anyone else end up trying to shave closer and realizing it's been an hour?..my previous shaves were 30min or so and I'm about a month into str8 shaving

Yep....an hour sounds about right for starting out. It's fun though, you could be spending your hour watching TV or sitting on the toilet, but you chose shaving...good choice
I wouldn't worry about the time involved right now, after six months or so, you should be able to get three passes down in about twenty minutes.

Thanked: 33Hi pcdad,
You probably spent about 30 mins just pottering about getting stuff ready making lather, stropping etc while the shave itself took another 30 mins-all very enjoyable!
Time just slips away when you are enjoying yourself which is why I switched shaving to the evening.
When shaving the hairs around the adams apple -just pull the skin to the left or right which should make things easier.
Sounds like you are getting this down and really enjoying it!
Smoooth shaving!
Regards
Noggs

Thanked: 18Isn't it fantastic to do something for an hour and lose track of time, all the while enjoying it!
That's what I call totally getting into it

My time in the shave den is Zen for me. Time is no longer an issue (so long as I get in there early enough to make train when I have to).
By really stretching the skin down at the base of my throat, I've found I can do light N-S and S-N buffing passes right over my Adam's apple and along both sides. That stretch brings the hollows right up even with the rest of the neck.

pcdad,
I still take about 45 mins (start to finish) for my shave. I shave after I get back from work, and it really helps me relax and soothes away the strain of the day.
Consider it a bit of 'you' time
Notice you didn't realise how long you were - the 'flow' or zen effect is clearly in evidence
Have fun !
Best regards

I also shave after work, usually around 1-2am and find the peace and quiet around the house peacefull. Durring the day... 2 ladies in the house... Ya not getting the bathroom to myself if they are around... Even thow they are not in there 24-7, the minute I need to spend time there... they need something.... ARRGGHH...
So the middle of the night is MINE!!!
