    Talking Finally!..got under my chin

so this AM I felt like i really wanted to get better at my face areas...so I was told from one forum member (or several..can't remember who)...angle the blade 5 degrees under my chin..so I thought about it and realized its putting the blade as far back as possible to the scales while holding the handle firm...tried that and went ever slowly n smoothly under my chin areas including my stubborn adams apple both sides..MUCH better I must say!....boy is it irritated now and very itchy..My aftershave is Nivea Q10 with SPF15 .I'm sure that will go away..I wasn't near BBS nor some of the other few places around my face..but thats ok..I really didn't focus immensely on those ;-P
but I do also sweat easily..I'm not overweight but just a stalky build and "born to sweat" under any light/sun

My adam's apple is a real pain too...it's grows at skin level and sideways too...no amount of passes or angles get to the area. I finally figured out how to get to them. I put two fingers from the left on on the right side of the spot and the thumb on the left side and kinda pinch and roll the area to bring the hairs up for the cut. With the razor in the right hand, I carefully knock all the hairs down. Be warned, that any movements other than those carefully planned will make the razor jump onto the fingers you're using to roll the skin.

    Default Finally . . .

    Hello, pcdad:

Congratulations on tackling the chin area. That is a difficult area to conquer.

The irritation could be because of excessive blade pressure. By holding hard onto the razor, sometimes we have the tendency to divert some of that pressure to the razor blade as it touches the skin.

Hold the razor as if it's a bird: not too tight so that you'll squeeze life out of it and not too light so that it'll fly away. Lay off a day or so and try it again. In that area, you likely are going against the grain. I know I am when going up on the neck toward the chin.

If I may suggest also: you have plenty of time for BBS. For now concentrate on skill. Technique will develop from skill.

Either way, keep trying. Watch the razor pressure. Light. Very light.

    Regards,
    Obie

Will wait another 2-3 days b4 going again..RED..in regards to yer suggestion I am unable to stretch much as I have a left hand injury so skin stretching is minimal or face stretching is easily done..timed this session to about 45min

    Thumbs up

    Hey Dad,
    Congrats on tackling your chin!

+1 on Obie's recommendation that you concentrate on learning good technique and not worry about getting a BBS. Everyone's skin and beard is different so we all have different learning curves. A BBS will come in time but for now we just gotta enjoy the ride!
    Namaste,
    Morty -_-
