Thanked: 66Finally!..it's Here!
Ok..so happy day today for me!...waited 2 months for this razor!
I received my Grandfather in law's straight razor (My wife's grandfather)..This was given to him when he was a teenager (he is 72 yrs young now) in Ukraine (former part of Soviet Union) just after WWII by a high ranking Russian Red Army officer..it has since then been in his bathroom cabinet until about 5 years ago..I feel very bless'd to receive his razor. I know he will know I will always use it (and my Sheffield 7/8 in rotation of course)...now for the Pics...I will send this to a honemeister Max or Lynn Abram's to be re-honed as my wife's grandfather did hone it himself but you never know..but I think more work may be needed for this I believe 4/8 size razor...my wife thinks Gold polish to get the small rust spots off the goldwash middle of the razor and then use Silver Polish for the rest of the razor including the backside will clean it right up..I'm still a newb and have no idea about this.
it is gold etched in tge middle so I am a bit worried to do anything right now..but I have read many articles that said there isn't much you can do to save the gold etching..for sure the scales need to be replaced as they are metal and broken (yes they pinch)..any thoughts?
Thnx!

That is beautiful file work on the spine. I'm sure you will love shaving with it. Do you have a son to pass it down to?

Very nice razor you have there. Imagine being able to pass it on to your own son or grandson some day.
