new razor/tremors
Ger gave me a geo wostenholm IXL 5/8 round point half hallow. I love it it has a little more weight then my first which will work when I am having a bad time with my hands. I have a type of tremors in my hands and so some days I think the lighter will be good and other days the heft will work better I am very excited. I do not have much experience but I can say that tonight was the most confident I have felt shaving. Ger has been wonderful helping me every step of the way.

Nice to hear you are learning to work around the tremors, rather than just use them as a reason to go back to the mock3's.

I dealt with hand tremors for decades until I finally asked a neurologist about it. He put me on medication and the difference has been really positive. I play musical instruments, juggle, do slight of hand, etc. Now I shave with a straight razor. I'm REALLY happy about the lack of tremors now.

I have the "shakes" too, some days worse than others.
It can be tough when you are trying to make a smooth neck pass, BUT... As you shave more often you will get smoother and faster, which will make the tremor effect negligible.
There's the old saying, "Slow is smooth, smooth is fast" (I think someone even has that as a sig. line on this forum).
I still get the occasional bite on my neck, when the blade skitters along, but nothing too bad.
Honing will be a little hard at first too, but you can overcome. Mind over matter and all that.

[QUOTE=Ogershok;615474]I dealt with hand tremors for decades until I finally asked a neurologist about it. He put me on medication and the difference has been really positive.
I was on medication from my neurologist and found that it made me very sick so I decided to stop taking it and have pretty good control in most situations I am just finding that the heavier straight does not transfer the tremor as well.

Nanna,
my late fianceƩ was quadriplegic due to an inoperable brain tumor. About a month before she died, Marianne asked me to shave her legs. It was one of the most intimate moments we ever shared -- bar none.
On the days your tremors overwhelm you, give Ger the gift my Marianne gave me. You will influence him in ways neither of you could possibly anticipate.
Namsaste,
Morty -_-

+1 on learning to work with what you got.
While you learn there is no shame in pulling out
something like a Yellow Handle BiC tossable or
what you have left of your M3s to address the
difficult bits.
Do spend time on your "lathering". Lathering is the
heart of shaving IMO. Good whisker prep and lathering
can make shaving fun no mater what blade you decide to use.

Do the best you can. They are hereditary in my case. I do have them, although they are relatively minor. I can't stretch my skin for the most part as I must steady my hands with each other. It is what it is and I just cope! That doesn't mean that I don't get BBS shaves. I do, but it takes about 25-30 minutes. The straight razor shaves are better than what I got with my twin razor.
