I am a newbie having just puchased my first straight two weeks ago, then I found this site and found out I needed to get the razor professionally honed before using it. Needless to say I planned on doing this. Right up to the point the razor was delivered and I saw it for the first time. Well no major cuts/nicks but then I saw the light and sent it off to Lynn so that I could see what a proper shave should be instead of a adequate one. But, to the point of this thread after sending my razor away I felt empty inside so I purchased a DE off the classifieds here to fill the gap it worked, for one shave, don't get me wrong the shave was great, smoother than my first with the straight but it was too much like a fusion and was not the amazing feeling I got with the straight. So now I have been checking out the classifieds and vendors here everyday and just bought my second razor and spent $150 on creams/soaps and supplies. I figure it might take a week or so for Lynn to hone my first and didn't feel like waiting so the second one will come pre-sharpened. Anyway just hoping one of the two razors get here before I feel the need to go on another shopping spree and push my finances into the red... Anyway just needed to share the pain

Ps: Has anyone heard about/used Green River Leather strops? They seem cheap ~$20 for a regular leather and $30 for a horsehide, just wondering if they are any good or if they are a waste of money, I already have an Illinois Russian strop on it's way so I don't need another right now, just wondering if it's worth it?

Thanks!
